A Midgardian's Saga
Vitality Points represent a character’s ability to absorb, ignore, or roll out of damage. Basically, these points represent how much damage a character may take without it meaningfully affecting him or her. Vitality Points are thus different from Wound Points, which represent real damage taken and can dramatically alter the character’s ability to function.
A character gains a certain number of Vitality Points per level, meaning that over time he or she generally has significantly more Vitality Points than Wound Points.
Whenever taking damage, Vitality Points are reduced first. When a character reaches 0 Vitality Points, he or she begins taking damage to Wound Points. Furthermore, whenever a character is hit by a Critical Hit, he or she takes damage to Wound Points, not Vitality Points.
